White-Label and Freelance Support FAQ for Agencies
This FAQ answers common questions from agencies considering white-label or freelance support from Beyond Metrix.
It covers how the relationship works, confidentiality, client contact, pricing, deliverables, flexible capacity, staff mentoring, and the specialist services available.
For an overview of the wider offer, visit the white-label and freelance support for agencies page.
Flexible support and alternatives to hiring
Can white-label support be an alternative to hiring another employee?
Yes. It can be a practical alternative where the need is specialist, project-based, variable, or not yet sufficient to justify another permanent role.
You can access experienced support for the hours, projects, or periods in which it is required without taking on recruitment costs, an ongoing salary commitment, employer contributions, pension responsibilities, holiday entitlement, sickness cover, equipment, training, and continuing management costs.
A permanent employee may still be the right choice for a role that requires consistent day-to-day capacity. White-label support is particularly useful where the requirement changes between clients or where you need senior expertise without needing it every day.
How can freelance support save an agency money?
You pay for the agreed work rather than carrying the full annual cost of another employee.
It may also reduce costs associated with recruitment, onboarding, training, equipment, holiday and sickness cover, and maintaining a permanent role when demand is lower.
Experienced input can also reduce the risk of avoidable mistakes, weak recommendations, rework, missed deadlines, or complex work being allocated to somebody who does not yet have the required knowledge.
Can we tailor the team around each client?
Yes. This is one of the main advantages of using specialist freelance support.
Your agency does not have to restrict its service to the precise combination of skills it currently employs. You can bring in additional expertise according to the client, project, market, technical requirements, and expected outcomes.
Your existing team can continue to manage the work it already does well, while Beyond Metrix supports the areas requiring additional experience or specialist knowledge.
Can support be arranged for a single project?
Yes. Support can be provided for one audit, investigation, strategy, migration, dashboard, accessibility review, or other defined project.
There is no requirement to enter a long-term arrangement unless that is what your agency needs.
Can support be short-term or ongoing?
Yes. Arrangements can include:
- A single task or project.
- A fixed number of hours or days.
- Short-term support during a busy period.
- Specialist input throughout a website build or migration.
- Regular monthly consultancy.
- Ongoing support across several client accounts.
- Reserved capacity for an agreed period.
The arrangement can increase, reduce, or end as your workload changes, subject to any terms agreed for the project.
Can you provide overflow capacity?
Yes. Beyond Metrix can provide additional capacity when your internal team is busy, somebody is unavailable, or the agency has taken on more work than it can comfortably deliver within the required timescale.
This may involve completing a defined piece of work or supporting your team behind the scenes until internal capacity becomes available again.
Can you support an agency before it commits to hiring?
Yes. Freelance support can help an agency test whether there is sufficient ongoing demand for a particular capability before creating a permanent role.
It can also help define what skills a future employee will need and identify which work should remain with a senior external specialist.
Experience and delivery
Who completes the work?
All consultancy work is completed directly by Sam Mignano, the director of Beyond Metrix.
Sam has more than 30 years of experience across digital strategy, marketing, communications, SEO, analytics, data analysis, website performance, and accessibility.
There is no junior hand-off.
Why does senior experience matter?
Technical tools can identify possible issues, but experienced judgement is needed to determine which findings matter, why a problem is happening, what should be prioritised, and how one recommendation may affect other parts of the website or strategy.
A technically correct change may still reduce usability, accessibility, conversion, clarity, or credibility if it is implemented without considering the wider context.
Sam’s experience brings together marketing strategy, technical understanding, data analysis, communications, accessibility, user needs, competitor performance, and implementation practicalities.
What types of organisations has Sam worked with?
Sam has worked with organisations across the UK, including banks, universities, legal and medical clients, public-sector organisations, charities, agencies, and businesses operating within complex or regulated environments.
Will the work simply reproduce reports from automated tools?
No. Specialist tools are used to gather evidence and identify potential issues.
The findings are then verified, interpreted, and prioritised using professional judgement, strategic understanding, competitor research, and the organisation’s wider objectives.
Client reports explain what matters, why it matters, and what should happen next.
Mentoring and team development
Can you mentor members of our team?
Yes. Mentoring can be provided as a standalone arrangement or alongside client work.
This may include supporting less experienced staff working in SEO, analytics, marketing, content, reporting, accessibility, or website strategy.
What can staff mentoring include?
Mentoring and capability development may include:
- Reviewing work and explaining where it could be improved.
- Helping staff interpret analytics and search data.
- Developing technical SEO knowledge.
- Improving audit, analysis, and reporting skills.
- Supporting staff through a complex implementation or migration.
- Creating reusable processes, templates, and checks.
- Helping account teams explain technical findings to clients.
- Providing a second opinion before recommendations are presented.
- Supporting the handover of work back to the internal team.
Can mentoring be based on live client work?
Yes, where appropriate and agreed.
Using a live project can help staff understand how analysis, strategic decisions, prioritisation, and client communication work in practice.
Responsibility for final recommendations and deliverables will be agreed clearly at the beginning.
Can you create processes our team can reuse?
Yes. Support can include templates, audit frameworks, reporting structures, quality checks, measurement plans, content briefs, and documented processes that your team can use on future projects.
Confidentiality and client relationships
Will you ever contact our clients directly?
Not unless you have explicitly agreed that direct contact is appropriate.
Your clients remain your clients. Communication can remain entirely through your agency, or Sam can join meetings as part of your team where this has been agreed.
Will you approach our client for work?
No. Beyond Metrix does not use white-label projects as an opportunity to pursue an agency’s client directly.
The purpose of the relationship is to strengthen your agency’s service and protect the client relationship you have developed.
Can you join meetings as part of our team?
Yes. Sam can join as an extension of your agency, a named specialist, or a behind-the-scenes technical adviser.
The role, introduction, and level of client contact will be agreed with you in advance.
Do you work under our brand?
Yes. Reports, presentations, recommendations, and other documents can be supplied using your agency’s branding, templates, terminology, and preferred style.
Do you sign NDAs or confidentiality agreements?
Yes. NDAs and appropriate confidentiality agreements are accepted where required.
Confidentiality applies whether or not a separate NDA is used.
How are potential conflicts of interest handled?
Potential conflicts are assessed according to the nature of the work, industry, audience, geography, topic, commercial objectives, and the likelihood that two clients would be competing directly.
Beyond Metrix will not accept overlapping work where confidentiality, impartiality, or either client’s commercial interests could be compromised.
Any potential concern will be discussed before the work is accepted.
Do you work with more than one agency?
Yes. Beyond Metrix can support several agencies, provided their client work does not create an inappropriate conflict.
How is sensitive information handled?
Access to client information is limited to what is required for the agreed work.
Files, account access, reports, data, and commercially sensitive information are used only for the agreed purpose and are not shared with other clients or agencies.
Any specific security, retention, or deletion requirements should be agreed at the start of the project.
Working arrangements and deliverables
What format do deliverables come in?
Deliverables can be supplied in formats including Word, PDF, PowerPoint, Google Docs, Google Sheets, Excel, Looker Studio, or your agency’s own templates.
The format will be agreed according to how the work needs to be reviewed, implemented, or presented to the client.
Can you produce client-ready reports?
Yes. Audits, strategies, dashboards, measurement plans, technical findings, accessibility reports, and recommendations can be prepared for direct client presentation.
They can include executive summaries, technical detail, prioritised actions, and separate implementation notes where required.
Can reports use our terminology and writing style?
Yes. Existing reports, brand guidance, templates, and tone-of-voice examples can be supplied before the work begins.
Will you work within our project-management tools?
Yes. Work can be managed through tools such as Trello, Asana, Monday.com, Basecamp, Notion, Slack, or another agreed system.
Email can also be used where the project does not require a separate platform.
Do you follow your own process or ours?
Either approach is possible.
Beyond Metrix can work within established agency processes or provide a structured framework where one is not already in place.
The process must still allow sufficient investigation, verification, and professional judgement to complete the work properly.
Can you work with our developers, designers, or content team?
Yes. Recommendations can be written for the specialists responsible for implementation, and Sam can discuss findings with developers, designers, content teams, analysts, and account managers where required.
Can you provide implementation support?
Yes, depending on the type of work and agreed scope.
Support may include implementation, quality assurance, review of completed changes, clarification for developers, or ongoing guidance while your team completes the work.
What happens if the scope changes?
Any material change to the agreed scope, deliverables, timescale, or access requirements will be discussed before additional work is completed.
This helps protect both the agency’s margin and the project timetable.
Capacity and timescales
How quickly can work begin?
This depends on current capacity, the size of the project, the access required, and whether the scope is already clear.
Planned audits and strategic projects are normally booked in advance. Smaller investigations or urgent problems may sometimes be accommodated sooner.
Can you guarantee urgent availability?
No. Urgent work is accepted only where there is sufficient capacity to complete it properly.
Where an immediate deadline cannot be met, Beyond Metrix will be clear about availability rather than accepting work that cannot be delivered reliably.
Can we reserve regular capacity?
Yes. Agencies with recurring needs can agree regular hours, days, or monthly capacity.
The terms should make clear how much time is reserved, what happens to unused capacity, and how additional work will be priced.
How far in advance should we book?
Booking as early as possible is recommended for audits, migrations, accessibility reviews, strategies, and other substantial projects.
Early involvement is particularly valuable where the findings may affect the website structure, project scope, content requirements, development plan, or client budget.
Pricing and agency margin
Do you offer hourly and fixed project rates?
Yes.
Fixed project fees are generally appropriate where the scope, deliverables, and access requirements can be defined in advance.
Hourly rates may be more suitable for troubleshooting, mentoring, meetings, implementation support, consultation, and work where the final requirement depends on what is uncovered.
Do you offer ongoing or retainer-style support?
Regular capacity can be agreed for agencies that need ongoing support.
This may involve a fixed number of hours or days each month rather than a conventional agency retainer covering unspecified activity.
How does agency pricing differ from direct-client pricing?
Agency pricing is intended to support a sustainable margin while reflecting the seniority, complexity, and specialist nature of the work.
The final rate or project fee depends on the scope, timescale, responsibility, deliverables, meeting requirements, and whether the work is supplied fully white-label.
Can we resell the work with our own margin?
Yes. The agency controls the price charged to its client.
Beyond Metrix agrees its fee with the agency and does not need to know the final resale price unless that information is relevant to defining the scope.
Is there a minimum commitment?
There is no standard long-term commitment.
A minimum project fee, number of hours, or reserved-capacity term may apply depending on the type of work, but this will be agreed before the project begins.
How do we protect our margin if more work is uncovered?
Potential additional work will be identified separately from the agreed scope.
No substantial additional work should be completed without the agency agreeing the revised requirement and fee.
SEO and AI search support
What SEO services are available to agencies?
Support can include technical SEO, independent audits, search landscape analysis, competitor research, content strategy, website structure, internal linking, structured data, local SEO, on-page optimisation, migrations, and prioritised implementation planning.
More information is available on the SEO services and SEO audits pages.
Can you provide a second opinion on another SEO supplier’s work?
Yes. Beyond Metrix can independently review audits, strategies, reports, technical recommendations, content plans, results, and implementation completed by another supplier or internal team.
The purpose is to establish what is working, what is not, and what should be prioritised next.
Do you support website migrations?
Yes. Support can include pre-migration planning, URL mapping, redirect review, risk assessment, staging-site checks, launch support, and post-migration monitoring.
See SEO site migration support.
Do you offer AI search, AEO, and GEO support?
Yes. Beyond Metrix provides AI search visibility audits, Answer Engine Optimisation, Generative Engine Optimisation, competitor and citation analysis, content reviews, crawler assessments, and measurement recommendations.
Explore AI search optimisation services and the AI search visibility audit.
Can AI search work be combined with an SEO audit?
Yes. The two areas overlap but are not identical.
A combined scope may be appropriate where the client needs a broader assessment of conventional search performance, AI-generated answers, citations, competitor visibility, content, technical access, and measurement.
Analytics, GA4, and Google Tag Manager
What types of GA4 and analytics work do you support?
Support can include GA4 audits, configuration, troubleshooting, conversion tracking, event design, measurement planning, attribution review, data-quality investigation, ecommerce or lead-generation tracking, and reporting.
More detail is available on the GA4 and analytics configuration page.
Can you work with an existing Google Tag Manager container?
Yes. Existing containers can be audited, repaired, reorganised, documented, or rebuilt where necessary.
This may include resolving duplicate events, broken triggers, inconsistent parameters, consent problems, cross-domain issues, or an unclear container structure.
See Google Tag Manager configuration and tracking.
Can you create dashboards for our clients?
Yes. Custom Looker Studio dashboards and reporting frameworks can be created around the client’s objectives, audiences, channels, and meaningful KPIs.
Explore custom Looker / Data Studio dashboards.
Can you investigate why different reports do not agree?
Yes. Differences may result from configuration, attribution models, consent, time zones, platform definitions, duplicated tracking, missing events, reporting thresholds, or other data limitations.
The investigation will distinguish between an implementation problem and an expected difference between systems.
Marketing and communications support
What marketing support is available?
Support can include marketing audits, digital strategy, campaign planning, competitor research, audience analysis, content strategy, channel reviews, communications evaluation, measurement planning, and implementation priorities.
More information is available on the marketing services page.
Can you help bring several specialist recommendations together?
Yes. This is particularly useful where SEO, analytics, content, development, accessibility, communications, and paid activity are being managed separately.
Beyond Metrix can help identify dependencies, conflicts, priorities, and a practical sequence for implementation.
Accessibility support
What accessibility services are available to agencies?
Support can include WCAG-aligned audits, manual accessibility testing, content and language reviews, heading and navigation assessment, form reviews, keyboard and screen-reader considerations, alternative formats, user testing, and client-ready recommendations.
See accessibility consulting services.
Can accessibility be reviewed during design and development?
Yes. Early involvement is usually more effective than waiting until the website or digital product is complete.
Accessibility input can help avoid expensive corrections and reduce the risk that design, content, development, SEO, and usability decisions conflict.
Are accessibility reviews automated?
No. Automated testing can identify some potential issues, but it cannot assess the full user experience or many important WCAG requirements.
Manual review, context, professional judgement, and appropriate user testing are also important.
Pitches, proposals, and independent reviews
Can you support a pitch or new business proposal?
Yes. Support can include initial website review, opportunity and risk analysis, technical input, scope development, resource planning, presentation input, and participation in pitch preparation or meetings.
Can you help us scope work before we price it?
Yes. Early specialist input can help identify hidden requirements, dependencies, access needs, technical risks, and realistic deliverables before the agency commits to a fee or timetable.
Can you review a project before it is delivered to the client?
Yes. A quality-assurance or second-opinion review can help identify gaps, unsupported claims, technical errors, unclear priorities, or areas requiring further evidence.
Starting a project
How do we begin working together?
Start by providing a brief description of the client, the problem or opportunity, the required outcome, the expected deliverables, and any important deadline.
Beyond Metrix will then confirm whether the work is suitable, what further information is needed, the proposed scope, timescale, and fee.
What information is needed before work begins?
This will depend on the project, but it may include:
- The client and agency objectives.
- The agreed deliverables.
- Relevant website or platform access.
- Analytics and search-platform access.
- Existing reports or previous work.
- Competitors and priority audiences.
- Deadlines and meeting requirements.
- Branding and report templates.
- Communication and approval arrangements.
- Confidentiality or conflict requirements.
Can we begin with a small project?
Yes. Many agency relationships begin with a single audit, investigation, review, or mentoring session before expanding into further work.
Would you like to discuss agency support?
Beyond Metrix provides direct, experienced, and confidential support shaped around your agency, your client, and the work that needs to be completed.
Whether you need short-term specialist input, ongoing freelance capacity, staff mentoring, an independent audit, or support with a complex client project, the first step is a straightforward conversation about what you need.
